US Service members on their way to Nepal after the earthquake. Service means honor, everyday, not just today.
This story involves a hazing ritual, a deadly accident, a cover-up, and now 16 months later, no justice.
To me, that is a crime of omission even if the law does not condemn its commission. It is an omission of the basic respect that the flag deserves and a blindness to the sacrifices that thousands have died for.
Time reports that a fraternity there has expelled 4 members for mocking muslims. The fraternity is ZBT, the three letters mean nothing to me other than to forensically trace the lineage of these crimes.
The student paper obtained the clip, which shows a man wrapped in a blanket with his face and head covered. He can be heard saying “Allahu akbar,” Arabic for “God is great” as others laugh.
Remember however that the same fraternity decided that these same faux men were “worthy of the brotherhood”. What does that mean you ask? Nothing. Its mumbo jumbo to disguise the quicksand on which this whole fraternity concept is built.
A fraternity (or fraternal organization) is an organized society of men associated together in an environment of companionship and brotherhood dedicated to the intellectual, physical, moral, religious, and/or social development of its members.
Seems like Wikipedia needs updating. Wait. I’ll do it.
A fraternity (or fraternal organization) is an organized society of wealthy, white college males, pretending to be men, segregated together in an environment of racism and faux brotherhood dedicated to cultivating the worst instincts, abusing and assaulting women and minorities , all while displaying moral indifference to the same.
ZBT chapter closed down after assaulting veterans.
Somehow it never fails to amaze. These groups cross lines of law, integrity, honor and basic human decency every day. They violate the rights of their own, women, minorities and now ……veterans. Any day, day after day, the problem is dealt with like ever so many leaks appearing in a levee holding back the ocean. What does this tell us? It tells me that there are basic conceptual flaws in the concept of an all-male, often all white, group think organization built on the concept of “us vs. them”. The exclusivity of these organizations is nothing more than a perpetuation of segregation and misogyny. The illusion is maintained by the performance of philanthropy which through its performance is supposed to wash away the sins of the previous day. It doesn’t work that way. You don’t get to forgive the crimes of one day by performing philanthropic penance the next. Rather than pretending to care about people one day, I have a novel concept, why not treat other people with respect every day? A unique concept I know.
This story from the NY Times is unbelievable. Its incredible but the marketing team at AB-InBev actually seems to have come to the conclusion that “no means yes” and then proceeded to roll out a national marketing campaign based on it. Who the hell is in charge over at AB-InBev ? I am beginning to suspect that either a TKE or SAE brother is running the S%&t-show over at InBev.
